About Modelon

Modelon is revolutionizing the engineering design industry by offering technologies and services that enable customers to leverage system simulation. Modelon’s flagship product, Modelon Impact, is a cloud system simulation platform that helps engineers virtually design, analyze, and simulate physical systems. Our team brings deep industry expertise and is dedicated to guiding our customers in creating innovative technologies at their respective organizations. Headquartered in Lund, Sweden, Modelon is a global company with offices in Germany, India, Japan, and the United States. We believe that system simulation should be accessible to every engineer and are dedicated to being an open-standard platform company.

About the role

A senior technical product leadership role at the intersection of industry workflows, physics-based modeling, and AI-enabled engineering experiences.

This role owns the roadmap for the industry application layer and the underlying physics foundation, with an initial focus on liquid-cooled data centers. The person must define the what, influence key parts of the how, and lead cross-functional teams toward robust, reusable, productized implementation.

We are looking for a senior Technical Product Lead to own one of our most strategic product areas: the intersection of industry applications, physics-based workflows, and AI-enabled engineering experiences.

This role sits at the core of our strategy to turn deep simulation and physics capabilities into differentiated, workflow-centric products for targeted industries, starting with our beachhead in liquid-cooled data centers.

You will lead the product direction for the workflows that matter most to customers, such as design configuration evaluation, setpoint optimization, calibration and training methods, reference architectures, and reusable component models. At the same time, you are expected to operate with enough technical depth to influence implementation direction, challenge architectural trade-offs, and help the team build scalable, coherent solutions.

This is not a traditional backlog-management role. We need someone who can define the roadmap, shape key aspects of the technical path, and act as a strong product and technical leader for a cross-functional team spanning industry applications, physics, simulation, AI, and product engineering.

What you will do

  • Own the roadmap for Industry Applications & Physics, including the prioritization of workflows, models, reusable assets, and product capabilities that enable differentiated industry solutions.
  • Translate strategy into concrete, staged workflow bets with clear measurable outcomes, ensuring we focus on the right first slices and sequence them for learning, adoption, and productization.
  • Lead workflow-centric product definition for areas such as design configuration evaluation, setpoint optimization, calibration, component selection, executable requirement models, and reference architecture-based engineering.
  • Bridge product, physics, and engineering by working deeply with domain experts, model developers, simulation specialists, compiler and platform teams, design, and software engineering.
  • Drive AI-first workflow thinking, where AI improves concrete engineering work in a trustworthy and evidence-based way rather than existing as a generic chat layer.
  • Influence technical direction by contributing to decisions on workflow architecture, model requirements, abstraction levels, reuse patterns, APIs, and capability boundaries.
  • Shape reusable domain assets, including calibrated component models, reference architectures, faster and easier-to-use models, and workflow primitives that can scale across customers and use cases.
  • Engage with strategic customers and the market to validate priorities, understand pain points, and ensure roadmap decisions reflect real customer value and differentiated positioning.
  • Raise the bar for execution by bringing clarity, pace, and sound judgment, helping the team convert ambiguity into a solid implementation path.

What we are looking for

  • Strong product leadership experience in deeply technical software environments, ideally spanning engineering software, industrial SaaS, simulation, scientific computing, or AI-enabled enterprise products.
  • A rare ability to operate across both product definition and technical direction. You are first and foremost a product leader, but you are also credible in technical discussions and can challenge implementation choices constructively.
  • Experience turning domain-specific expert work into reusable workflows and product capabilities rather than one-off custom solutions.
  • Excellent systems thinking and an ability to work across user workflows, models, platform capabilities, architecture boundaries, and organizational dependencies.
  • The ability to work credibly with advanced technical teams in modeling, simulation, and engineering domains. Experience in thermofluids, energy systems, industrial systems, controls, or data centers is particularly valuable.
  • Strong judgment on how AI can improve technical workflows in a grounded way, with appreciation for guardrails, deterministic execution, structured context, and traceable evidence.
  • Senior presence and execution strength, with the ability to align strong stakeholders, make sound trade-offs, and drive momentum in ambiguous spaces.

Preferred background

  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation environments.
  • Experience with workflow-oriented SaaS products for engineering users.
  • Familiarity with optimization, calibration, system design workflows, or digital engineering workflows.
  • Experience working closely with architecture and engineering on platform and product boundaries.
  • Exposure to AI or GenAI in technical, scientific, or industrial product contexts.
  • Experience in data center cooling, HVAC, thermofluids, energy, or adjacent industrial domains.

Why this role matters

This role will help determine how we turn our physics and simulation foundation into differentiated, repeatable, AI-enabled industry applications.

Success in this role is not measured by the number of roadmap items defined, but by whether we create compelling workflow products that customers adopt, trust, and scale with.

You will help define the next generation of engineering workflows, where domain knowledge, structured product thinking, AI assistance, and deterministic simulation come together to enable better and faster decisions.

This role is intended for a senior leader who can combine product judgment, technical depth, and execution leadership to turn strategy into a coherent roadmap and a solid implementation path.
